Amazing Kakadu experience
We are a couple and took a 4 day private tour to Kakadu and we loved every minute! From the first enquiries we received all the information we were looking for and more. Alina answered every question we had and gave us great advice to prepare for the trip. GT took us on tour and his knowledge of the landscape and indigenous culture made the visit very interesting. We did learn a lot and had fun too. He took time to answer every question we had, while he takes care of you during the trekking. We did the visit during October, which is challenging due to the heat, but we were safe and relaxed since GT knew very well how to take us to each spot at the right pace, ensuring appropriate water and breaks to allow us to enjoy every attraction and view point we visited in the park. I’m not native in English and sometimes it is a challenge with the Aussie accent, especially in remote locations like this, but not with GT. We absolutely loved it and will book again to do the Kimberley tour. Thanks GT and Alina! Travelled on private 4 Day Kakadu Tour in October 2021.

Kakadu Safari
Our family of 5 had a wonderful experience exploring Kakadu National Park. Greig was a very professional, considerate and knowledgeable guide, very easy to talk to and drove our precious family around very safely. He knew so much about the wildlife, indigenous culture and country with all of us learning volumes. The car was comfortable and his cooking very tasty - the boys (all under 12) loved their pasta dish particularly! We would highly recommend a tour with Charter North 4WD Safaris.Travelled on private 3 Day Kakadu Tour in October 2021.Libby M.- Tasmania
Amazing, unforgettable experience!
This was an unforgettable experience! First of all, planning of the trip with Charter North was the first sign of the professionalism of this company - all our wishes were considered, questions answered, challenges explained - the list goes on and on. Our tour guide (referred to as GT, still not sure why not call him Greig 🙂 ) was very professional with unbelievable knowledge of absolutely everything related to the tour - and this was not limited to places we visited: he was able to answer absolutely every question (whether it was about the cultural heritage, wildlife, past/present/future of places like Kakadu park etc.). GT was taking care of us during the whole trip - whether it related to always timely lunch, trail choice or even things like avoiding dehydration - everything was catered for. And several times we thanked our choice of this company due to hidden treasures of Kakadu Park, let alone the challenging roads not every driver can cope with. Most importantly - when you deal with people like the ones we met from Charter North - you want to see human beings, not just local area encyclopaedia (which they were, incidentally) and this was probably the most pleasant experience: great and informative stories, lots of laughter, truly friendly atmosphere: all of this made us all (a group of four people) think that the money was very well spent. Well done, Charter North, hope we will still go through a yet unread chapter (no pun intended) of the NT book with you!Travelled on private 4 Day Kakadu & Katherine Tour in August 2021.Alex A.- Adelaide SA
Gorgeous Kimberley
A huge thanks to GT and Alina. We had a wonderful time travelling Broome - Kununurra up the Gibb River Rd - including side trips to Derby, Wyndham and the incredible Bungle Bungles. Loved the bush camping, the gorges, seeing the stars, sunrises /sunsets and the special hidden places that GT shared with us - many times we had pristine bush/waterways just to ourselves - what a treat. The driving was first rate and GT's knowledge detailed - not surprising given his many years guiding in these parts. Highly recommend Charter North and the adventure that is "The Kimberleys".Travelled on private 8 Day Kimberley Tour in July 2021.Nicola & Eagan- Perth WA
Top End 6 day family private tour
Amazing experience! We are planning on booking again to do the Kimberley tour. We are a family of 4 with 2 primary school age children, we did the private tour 6day top end experience. The tour covered Kakadu, Edith Falls, Katherine Gorge and Litchfield; and our whole family thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Our fabulous guide, GT, looked after us very well - he has an amazing knowledge of wildlife, culture as well as camping. And his cooking is delicious! We originally booked this tour to take advantage of a local guide’s knowledge, as well as have all the required equipment provided - however quickly realised and greatly appreciated how relaxing it can be when you have someone take care of all the camp set up, cooking and pack up (and we loved the percolater coffee in the morning)!! Even though this was an active camping holiday, we finished feeling relaxed as GT really looked after us. GT was also really lovely with our children, he was patient and kind and was always happy taking the time to answer their questions and teach them how to manage in the bush. We highly recommend this company.Travelled on private 6 Day Kakadu $ Beyond Tour in July 2021.Alistair & Emma- Darwin NT
Kakadu at its best!
We are a family of 5 and just completed a 3 night /4 day Kakadu 4WD tour with GT. It was an amazing adventure with an excellent guide. The food was of a high caliber and the camp settings beautiful. I would highly recommend this trip to any individual or family looking to see the real outback of Australia.

Brilliant Kimberley Knowledge
Best personal guided camping tour experience in the Kimberley. Experience, knowledge and capable adventure with the planning completed for us. Had the best time with my 2 adult children. Happily bonded with the other 3 tour members that experienced a lifetime adventure.

Best experience EVER
Our 4 day (3 night) Charter North camping trip in Kakadu was hands down THE BEST thing we have ever done as a family. We have 3 kids aged 4-10yrs old, and Dan took us to the most perfect locations for our family. We hiked, climbed and swam in picture perfect places, and Dan shared so much knowledge with us about everything from flowers and birds, to indigenous stories and art. The food was excellent and catered to our gluten-free family member also. We simply had the most fun time ever! Memories that will last a life time. Can’t thank Charter North & Dan enough for providing us with this experience.Travelled on private 4 Day Kakadu Tour in June 2021.Claire Evans- NSW
10 Day Broome to Darwin camping through the Kimberleys
It was wonderful to sleep out in swags under huge star-filled skies, protected only by the insect mesh of the tent without needing the tent fly. Bush camping sites were a treat, especially relaxing around a campfire while Greig cooked the dinner in a camp oven. The knowledge shared by our guide, Greig Taylor, of the local aboriginal art sites, history & customs, and the country we travelled through, was excellent. Watching the dawn over the Bungle Bungles, which illuminated the famous stripes of the beehive rock formations was a highlight of the journey.Travelled on mixed group 10 Day Kimberley Tour in May 2021.Deborah & Kevin- Tasmania
Kimberley 9 Day Experience
As Greig Taylor, our driver and guide, said "this trip is an experience" and he certainly made it so. He was very knowledgeable about the country and wildlife and, despite difficult conditions, gave us a memorable trip. In fact, at the end, my husband wanted to turn around and do it again. I thoroughly recommend Charter North as they are committed to, and genuinely care about, both the country and their customers. Outstanding Experience with Charter North
I have just returned from a three-day safari into the Kakadu and Lichfield National Parks with Charter North! I travelled with my two sons aged 9 and 6 so I was a little apprehensive of taking two small children into the bush for three days! But I really didn’t need to worry, our guide Dan was simply superb! In fact both my boys cried last night when we got back to Darwin as they missed him so much! He was brilliantly entertaining and knowledgeable about everything from the best swimming holes, aboriginal culture and history, the flora and fauna (i haven’t heard so much Latin in years) and he even had two fussy eaters eating ants and flowers for breakfast (bush tucker). His love and passion for the parks was obvious and very infectious! I cannot praise Charter North enough for their help with organising the trip and the quality of the experience and their support during it, even packing snacks and treats for the boys! Small, locally owned and very caring, A high quality outfit! Thank you Charter North for giving me and my boys an outstanding (too) short trip into Kakadu and Lichfield National Parks!!Travelled on 3 Day Kakadu & Litchfield Tour in May 2021.Simon- Brisbane
Four Day Tour of Kakadu
We have just returned from a wonderful four-day tour of Kakadu with Charter North. From first contact early last year we felt confident that Greig and Alina would help us shape a tour in line with our interests and abilities. We were keen to see as much rock art as possible while learning more about indigenous life in that extraordinary landscape. The geology and birdlife were also of great interest. We saw so much, we are still digesting it all. The diversity of birdlife on the many wetlands and walks to the astounding art at Nourlangie and Nanguluwur were highlights. Two cruises - one cultural on the edge of Arnhem Land and one rich in crocs and birds at Cooinda - added much to our understanding. As fit but older travellers, we saw that a Charter North driver/guide would free us up to enjoy all that the Park has to offer, and in this we were most fortunate to travel with Dan. He was great company and his depth of knowledge about our areas of interest, his quiet efficiency, steady driving and ability to find a shady spot for a healthy breakfast or lunch was most impressive. Charter North's recent-model vehicle was in excellent condition and extremely comfortable. We chose to use overnight accommodation and enjoyed our stays at Jabiru and Cooinda. We'd love to travel with Charter North again and it's a pleasure to recommend their servicesTravelled on accommodated 4 Day Kakadu Tour in May 2021.Carole & Peter- Broken Head

4 Day Wet Season Tour
Family of 4 (kids 11 and 9) did the 4 day wet season tour through Kakadu, Katherine and Litchfield. GT was an amazing tour guide. His knowledge of the parks and friendly nature meant that we immediately relaxed and knew he was going to take care of everything. His extensive experience meant that he could modify the tour in real time to fit the kids and found an incredible swimming hole off the beaten path that we could enjoy by ourselves in the middle of a long hike on a warm sunny day. Definitely recommend it for families looking for an alternative to the run of the mill beach holiday.Travelled on 4 Day Green Season Tour in April 2021.Josh- Sydney
Fantastic tour of beautiful wet season Kakadu and Litchfield NP
From the moment he picked us up from our hotel to when he dropped us off at the end of our trip, GT was warm, easy-going and relaxed. It was like having an old friend show you around their hometown, chatting comfortably as if you’d known him forever. Our teenagers also found him approachable and likable. GT clearly has an extensive breadth of knowledge and experience in place, nature, culture and history, sharing this at opportune times in a casual manner that always felt incidental, rather than a lecture. He took us to delightful places we could never have found on our own in Kakadu, especially during the green season when many sites were not yet open. We never felt rushed, nor did we have too long anywhere – everything seemed to work out just right, something which requires the talents of a skilled operator to achieve. Each day we were given options to choose from depending on our energy levels at the time (considerably affected by the heat!). He accommodated our interests and made the most of opportunities arising – eg turning the car back on spotting a large crocodile in a culvert next to the highway so that we all got to see it. The 4WD was clean and comfortable. The food was healthy and delicious. Everything was really just so easy and pleasant. Our trip had been delayed a year from our original booking due to COVID, and the communications with Charter North throughout all that unknown period were excellent. We cannot speak highly enough of this tour operator.Travelled on 3 Day Green Season Tour in April 2021.Becky- Gold Coast
Kakadu and Katherine
We were a party of 4 (two couples in our sixties). We felt very safe and well looked after by GT on our 5 day 4 night private tour to Kakadu and Katherine. We were involved in planning the tour and Alina answered all our questions quickly. In the year of Corona there has been much disruption to tourism and we were very lucky to be able to travel to NT from SA. GT was very conscious of keeping us safe. He was an excellent driver and his vehicle was immaculate when he collected us from our hotel. We did the Corroboree Billabong cruise and visited Ubirr on the first day which were both wonderful. We camped at Sandy Billabong the first two nights in tents and swags which came with sheets and pillows The tents protected us from the mosquitoes and after the challenges of setting up the first night we found it easy for the rest of the trip. GT worked long days caring for us. All our evening meals were on the camp fire and were healthy and nutritious. My favourite was the salmon, salad and potatoes. Breakfast was coffee, tea, juice, muesli , fruit and toast with spreads. Lunch was wraps and rolls with salad and fruit. Day two we visited Nourlangie and Jim Jim Falls. The rock scrambling into the falls was challenging but we were rewarded with a sandy beach and a swim. We loved the rock art and stories at Ubirr and Nourlangie. We visited Maguk and Gunlom more beautiful swimming spots. The camp at Gunlom had showers and was in a pretty location. On the way to Katherine we stopped at Pine Creek, we had another swim and lunch at Edith Falls ( Leliyn) then on to Katherine. Our final day was canoeing and swimming in Nitmiluk Gorge which we loved. It was an adventure for us where someone else did all the driving, guiding and meal preparation thank you GT and Alina.Travelled on 5 Day Kakadu & Katherine Gorge Tour in August 2020.Heather- Adelaide
Wonderful guide, beautiful sights
We were the first trip to be run by Charter North after the national parks were closed down due to COVID. Our guide, GT fully embraced the need for social distancing practices for both our and his own protection. GT planned a sensational trip, taking us to all of Kakadu's stunning locations and proving additional local knowledge that we would never have been privy to without him. GT was extremely flexible and at our request, while we were already in Kakadu, added an additional sunset cruise to the program. We had a couple of dietary requirements in our group and each was met perfectly. The food was healthy, delicious and perfect for fuelling us before and after days filled with exploring. We stayed in the 'Taj' which was very comfortable and resulted in a great few nights sleep. Thanks again GT, we will always remember this trip. Highly recommend. Five stars.Travelled on 4 Day Private Kakadu Camping Tour in July 2020.Paige- Darwin
A great day in Litchfield National Park
We spent a day with Greig visiting Litchfield National Park. He picked us promptly at our holiday apartment and we chatted about everything and nothing as we headed toward our destination! The country is stunning as is the quiet. We visited termite hills and falls as Greig provided us with some background - but not in an overwhelming way. In fact, he enjoyed answering all of our questions. After stopping at two falls, we had a coffee break and then visited more falls, including a challenging 137 steps down and back up! We had a lovely fresh lunch spread served up by Greig before we walked to Sandy Creek and its falls. My favourite spot I think and we enjoyed a swim across the pool to the falls. Heading back toward Darwin we visited Wangi Falls and paused for some afternoon tea before setting off for Darwin. Our calves were sore the following morning so we know we'd had some exercise as well as fun with Greig whilst seeing the beautiful country at first hand. Not to forget the sparklingly clean 4WD which we travelled in, although pretty dusty by the end of the day. A great experience and thoroughly recommended!Travelled on 1 Day private Litchfield Tour in July 2020.Kevin & Sandra- Adelaide
Exploration and information
Greg is loquacious, informative, accessible and extremely efficient. He multi tasked .. drove (a long way), talked, provided picnics, cooked dinner, made good coffee and remained cheery throughout. We shall remember him for his great friendliness and he even gave us advice as to how to fill 3 more days in Darwin. Would unreservedly recommend this trip, particularly if you enjoy swimming in waterfalls.Travelled on 3 Day Kakadu and Litchfield Green Season Tour in March 2020.Zaida- Broken Head
Professional, friendly and fun
Thanks so much Charter North for taking us on this awesome adventure. I would recommend this trip to anyone who values traveling with an experienced, knowledgeable and professional guide. Greig (GT) worked incredibly hard to ensure our small group had the best experience possible. Admittedly our little group was a pretty cool bunch of people anyway... looking at you Stuart and JW 🙂 The food was delicious and fresh (Alina makes the best muesli), the vehicle was comfy and cool, the landscape and the waterholes were amazing. I had never visited the NT before and thanks to this well run trip along with GT's stories I feel like I have a better general understanding of the region. I have not even left yet but am looking forward to returning in the future for more exploration.
